"This is a low cost solution to practicing an otherwise prohibitively expensive skill. This small piece of plastic is far more useful than the VR welding simulation rigs in terms of real actionable practice."

"New TIG welders can get the motion of walking the cup anywhere, not just the welding lab. This tool makes practicing outside class much more accessible."

    About TigTech

The origins of this company are rooted in a conversation between Aaron Melendez and Brandon Powell (myself) in February of 2022. Aaron is an expert welder and fabricator, able to weld any process with a specialty in pipe welding. He has knowledge and experience in most environments in the industry. I was a combo industrial welder specializing in combined cycle powerplant alloy welding. As two current welding instructors Aaron and I noticed that a majority of our students were struggling for a considerable portion of TIG class before just becoming comfortable towards the end. Getting the muscle memory built for the unusual and precise movements is difficult alone - and then throwing in other new variables to be learned and monitored such as wire manipulation, foot pedal arc manipulation, and performing ambidextrously with your torch and filler wire - can be overwhelming for the novice welder to learn in a short time period. Aaron brought an idea to me that he had been thinking on for several years about a replica torch tool that could allow new students to pick up TIG welding more quickly and in a cost-effective manner. After deliberation we decided to enter a partnership and collaboration to design, test, patent, and manufacture our TigTech torch with the intention of getting welders proficient as quickly and easily as possible. With this, TigTech was born!

Our proprietary beginner friendly design makes "Walking the Cup" much easier to learn. Our handle has been shortened and widened with grooved ridges for hand comfortability and ease of manipulation, the head angle is tilted back generously to allow accessibility to plate or pipe, and not least of all a groove that seats an O-ring has been carved into the mouth of the cup. This in particular makes welding techniques much simpler to learn with added traction and control of rotational angle.

Whether you're picking up a TIG torch for the first time or a journeyman wanting to brush up on old skills this tool will assist in your needs. Let's walk together.

    -Brandon
